10 suspects wearing military gear arrested by DSS

10 suspected kidnappers who have been terrorising citizens of Kogi State have been arrested, according to the Department of State Security Service.

Four of the suspects who carry out their clandestine act wearing military gear, were paraded by the Director of the Kogi State Command, Joseph Okpo, in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.

Speaking with journalists, Okpo said that six other suspects were arraigned on Tuesday, adding that the command also arrested four members of a six-man gang that had been operating along Abuja-Lokoja highway.

According to Okpo the suspects – Haruna, Kabiru Shuaibu, Mumuni Adamu and Tukur Shuaibu – confessed to different crimes.

Speaking further, he said the suspects were already cooperating with its operatives as they had already given a concrete lead as to the source of their uniform.

The SSS director said upon investigation the service found out that majority of the kidnappers operating in the state were non-residents, lamenting that the people were taking advantage of the geographical location and the route structure of the state.

He promised that the command would leave no stone unturned in its fight against crime as it collaborates continue with other security in the state.
