Drinking alcohol leaves you feeling bloated and heavy in the head too. It’s a good idea to cut out alcohol in this post-party recovery phase so that you bounce back faster

1. No more late nights: If you’ve spent the last few weeks partying till the wee hours of the morning, you probably are more sleep-deprived than you know. And no, it doesn’t help if you sleep for eight hours during the day. Our bodies are best able to recover if they are allowed sleep between 10 PM and 4 AM. Make sure you are in bed latest by 11 PM.

2. Eat light: Overeating or eating unhealthy party foods not only slows down your digestive system, but also leaves you feeling sluggish. So starting now, eat lighter foods like sandwiches with a simple filling, wholesome salads sans the heavy dressings, soups, broths et al. These are easy to digest and will help keep you alert too.

3. Avoid alcohol: Drinking alcohol leaves you feeling bloated and heavy in the head too. It’s a good idea to cut out alcohol in this post-party recovery phase so that you bounce back faster.

4. Go on a detox diet: A detox diet will help clear your system of toxins and make you feel rejuvenated. Opt for a diet of raw fruits and veggies as well as home-made juices. A high-fibre diet is also recommended. And of course, cut out extra sugar, caffeine, refined flour et al.

5. Wear minimal make up: The party season probably had you wearing heavy make up. So now’s the time to visit your dermatologist or salon for a clean up. Also moisturiser and sunscreen along with a lip balm should be your go-to products right now.

6. Kick off those heels: Your feet are often stressed during the party season thanks to those towering stilettos. Treat yourself to a foot spa and then wear flats for a week. If you simply cannot do without your heels, wedges are a good option as they don’t put as much strain on your feet.

7. Get a little exercise: A little bit of exercise – a brisk walk or jog in the morning or a run on the treadmill – will help you feel more energetic. You will also notice that you enjoy a more sound sleep when you have exercised.

8. Set aside “me” time: After having everyone in your face throughout the party season, it’s time you spent some time by yourself. Get home early from work and read a book or listen to some music and simply unwind.

9. Get your kids to chip in: The party season can really take its toll on you. So instead of struggling to get back into the routine and do everything yourself, why not ask your kids to chip in? A little help around the house might be just what you need to get your life back in order.
