11 fraudulent herbalists arrested in Ogun

Eleven persons were arrested by police officers of the Ogun State Command, on Monday, 1 September, for allegedly defrauding victims, while posing as herbalists.

The suspects, who were arrested at Ilu Agbon, in Ewekoro LGA, Ogun State, have allegedly been in the business since 2004.

Items like effigy, coffin and other spiritual things were found by the state Police Commissioner, Mr Ikemefuna Okoye , when he led a team of detectives to the scene of the crime.

Okoye told jourmalists that several victims have lodged complains over the activities of the group, which prompted the command investigate the matter and eventually arrest the men.

The leader of the group, Akoje Abiola, in his statement, claimed to be an herbalist and that he started the shrine to solve spiritual problems of people.

However, Okoye explained said that the suspects practice was to hypnotise their victims before defrauding them. He adding that they would soon be arraigned before a court of law.
