Lee-Joseph Dixon, an 18-year-old boy has been jailed for 16 years for raping a 91-year-old woman in the hall of her home.
The teenager reportedly forced his way her house in Ely, Cardiff, on his way back home from a party, on Saturday, 24 May.
Dixon told her there was an emergency and rushed into the house once she opened the door. As she was being raped, the woman asked him: “Why is a young man like you raping an old woman like me?”
After the attack, she called 999, and upon arrival, Officers found her shaking in the hallway still holding on to the phone. She was hospitalized for two weeks and now lives in a care home as she was unable to return to her home, due to the trauma of the attack.
During the trial, the judge said, “He had not one ounce of pity” for his victim in the attack.”
John Lloyd, the prosecuting lawyer, told the Newport Crown Court that, “Dixon had been drinking at the party this year, and began knocking on doors as he walked to his home 300 metres away.”
Dixon, who admitted to raping the old woman is expected to serve a minimum of eight years and consequently be on the sex offenders list for life.
