A suit filed on December 28, 2011 against Governor Seriaki Dickson of Bayelsa State to stop him from running in the in the February 2012 governorship election was only just thrown out recently.

Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday dismissed the suit filed by a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Austin Ogionwo who sought out to restrict Dickson from further posing as the PDP candidate in the February 2012 Bayelsa governorship election.

According to reports, Justice Adamu Bello alleged that the plaintiff was short of the locus standi to file the matter.

In the suit, Ogionwo had taken legal action against Dickson, the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission confronting the November 19, 2011 primary, which produced Dickson as the party’s governorship candidate.

Ogionwo main argument was his belief that the primary was unacceptable, because it failed to comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010, as amended, and the PDP’s 2010 electoral guidelines.

He had requested that the court to quashed the primary, and hold back the PDP from submitting Dickson’s name to INEC as the party’s governorship candidate.
