The shortlist of candidates competing for the LVMH Prize this year has been released. Unfortunately, no African label made the list this year unlike last year where we had two labels chosen (Orange Culture & Maki Oh).

On the list this year are Devon Halfnight Leflufy (Antwerp), Agi & Sam (London), Andrea Jiapei Li (China), Anton Belinskiy (Kiev), Arthur Arbesser (Milan), Astrid Andersen (Copenhagen), Baja East (New York), Coperni (Paris), Craig Green (London), Faustine Steinmentz (London), Huishan Zhang (London), Jaquemus (Paris), Jourden (Hong Kong), Koche (Paris), Marques Almeida (London), Nabil Nayal (London), Nasir Mazhar (London), Off White (Chicago), Orley (New York), Ryan Lo (London), Ryan Roche (Hurley, NY), Sankuanz (China), Vetements (Paris), WrittenAfterwards (Japan), Xiao Li (London), and XimonLee (New York).

These 26 designers will head to Paris where 45 judges, including Linda Fargo (SVP of Bergdorf Goodman), will select eight of them to compete for the final prize. The top designer will receive €300,000 to build their brand. Runners-up will  receive €100,000 each and all come with year-long mentorship from a top LVMH designer. Last year, Thomas Tait won the coveted top prize.
