Buhari returns budget to National Assembly, demands adjustment

The last is yet to be heard about the controversial 2016 budget as President Muhammadu Buhari is reported to have officially returned the bill to the National Assembly, with a demand for adjustment on areas of concern to the presidency.

This was disclosed on Thursday, by the spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Abdurazaq Namdas.

He noted that the grey areas in the budget will be made known to Nigerians soon.

Namdas stated that: “I can confirm to you that we are in possession of the letter from the president identifying grey areas.”

The House spokesperson also stated that the leaders of the Senate and the House as well as the relevant committees will meet to discuss the development and come up with possible solutions.

It would be recalled that the 2016 budget has been a sore point ever since it was presented to the National Assembly by the President in December last year.

President Buhari had refused to sign the bill into law following the discovery that new projects were added to the bill by the National Assembly while some were removed.
