‘2016 budget will be fully implemented’ – Minister

Despite his initial statement that the 2016 budget might not achieve a 100 percent implementation, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udo Udoma has reversed his earlier assertion to say that the budget will be completely implemented.

This was contained in a statement signed by the minister’s Media Adviser, James Akpandem, and released on Saturday, May 7.

“The Federal Government aims and will be working to achieve 100 per cent implementation of the 2016 budget in spite of the late signing of the 2016 Appropriation Bill.”

“This clarification becomes necessary to clear the misrepresentation by some newspapers that full implementation of the budget has been ruled out because of the late start.”

“At no time did the minister rule out the possibility of full implementation as indicated by one or two newspapers.”

It remains to be seen how the federal government intends to achieve a 100 percent implementation of the 2016 budget that suffered a protracted back and forth before its eventual passage.
