How kidnappers killed 3 policemen in Rivers

Three mobile policemen were killed by kidnappers on Wednesday night in Choba community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The kidnappers visited the community in search of two brothers, who were suspected to be the target of the attack.

According to The Punch the kidnappers attacked a newly opened boutique directly opposite the Choba campus of the University of Port Harcourt.

According to a source, simply identified as Kate, the gunmen wasted no time in killing one of the mobile policemen close to the boutique.

The source said the gunmen had fired sporadically into scaring passersby before moving their victims into a Toyota Spider car.

She stated that the two brothers were taken to Choba waterside where they were transferred into a waiting speed boat.

According to Kate when the gunmen were about to transfer their victims to the speed boat, they killed two mobile policemen who were on night duty allegedly attached to one of the companies, around Choba market.

She said, “Kidnappers last night attacked one boutique close to Genesis Fast food and kidnapped the two brothers that run the boutique.

“When they were operating, they killed a MOPOL that guards the place. They put the two boys in their Spider car and drove them to Choba waterfront.

“When they got there, they saw two other MOPOL men who were patrolling in one company in the area and they killed them. They succeeded in taking the two young men away.”

It was also gathered that one of the mobile policemen, who was shot at, died while being rushed to the hospital.

When contacted, the State Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, said he would speak on the matter when fully briefed.

Omoni said, “We are aware as much as you have heard it; we are aware, but the details of what happened will be made available to you soon.”
