Army doesn’t need mercenaries to fight Boko Haram – Presidency

The Presidency has maintained that Nigeria will not seek the help of foreign mercenaries in ending the activities of terrorist group, Boko Haram.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this to Punch on Saturday.

Adesina insisted that President Buhari would not allow the military to seek the help of hired mercenaries.

He said the President has belief in the ability of the nation’s military to completely defeat the insurgents.

“The position of the President has always been that he believes the military has the capacity to fight terrorism.

“President Buhari has always made it clear that Nigeria will appreciate support in terms of equipment, training and intelligence.

The support the President is seeking is definitely not in terms of manpower or what you will call mercenaries,” he said.
