Dokpesi investigated over another N8.7bn received from Jonathan’s government

The Federal Government informed a High Court, sitting in Abuja on Thursday that Raymond Dokpesi, former Chairman of Daar Communications, is being investigated over the sum of N8.7 billion he collected from the last administration.

Dokpesi is believed to have received the money from  the federal government on 27, January 2012 for the broadcast right of Nigeria’s hosting of the Under 17 World.

The media mogul is being tried on a six count charge of money laundering and violation of Public Procurement Act.
At his bail hearing, prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, told the court that the government is investigating the receipt of the N8.7 billion from government coffers by Dokpesi.
Jacobs argued that granting Dokpesi bail may jeopardize the ongoing investigation into the charges against him.
