Cultists’ battle of supremacy leaves 15 dead in Rivers

About fifteen persons are reported to have died, on Friday, from a recent clash of cultists at Omoku, headquarters of Ogba Egbema Ndoni local government area.

Anonymous sources who spoke to newsmen said that some of the people who lost their lives were beheaded by the cultist.

The cultists, who were heavily armed, were to said to have attacked the community around 8 – 10 pm.

The Rivers state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Muhammad, affirmed that six people dead in the clash.

He further stated that the clash was a battle of supremacy between competiting cult groups in the area.

One of the sources who spoke to Vanguard said that:

”When we came out this morning we started hearing wailing in several homes. A man and his wife were among those killed. Some were even be headed.”

Prior to this happening, a former member of the House of Assembly, who represented the local government in the state Parliament, was reportedly shot dead while he was driving out of his compound, barely 24 hours before the cult clash.
