A 49-year-old woman, Ogunleye Caroline, has been arraigned for allegedly stealing a mobile phone, worth N65,000.

Caroline was charged with conspiracy and breach of public peace on Friday, 10 October, in a Chief Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Akure.

According to the police prosecutor, Corporal Suleiman Abdullateef, the accused and other accomplices conspired to steal a Samsung Galaxy 7100 phone belonging to a certain, Mrs Mercy Boateny.

Abdullateef also said that the accused caused a breach of peace by bringing a fake soldier to arrest and detain Boateny at the Army Barracks, Akure.

The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge, while the defense lawyer, Taiwo Bada, urged the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms.

The magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ogundipe, in her ruling, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, after which she adjourned the case to 12 November, for further hearing.
