A survey conducted in 2012 claimed that most people change their bed sheets once a month. That mean your bed linen is exposed to a month long of sweat, drool and dust. Having pets sharing the bed only makes the germ build up worse.

1. Kitchen faucet
The metal aeration screen of the kitchen faucet is an ideal place for germs. In addition to that, if you accidentally touch this screen with dirty fingers or food, more bacteria and germs begin to grow on it. As you turn on the faucet to wash dishes, the water passes through these germs and will come in contact with your dishes, thereby infecting them.

To avoid this, remove the faucet screen and soak it in a solution of diluted bleach or disinfectant to clean it. Do this once a week to keep your kitchen faucet germ free.

2. Toothbrush holder

The water left back after washing your toothbrush gets collected in your toothbrush holder. As days pass this stagnant water becomes a reservoir that hosts a number of bacteria. Since your tooth brush holder is close to the bathroom sink and/or toilet there is a higher chance that it will attract more bacteria.

To avoid this, wash your toothbrush holder regularly.

3. Bed sheets
A survey conducted in 2012 claimed that most people change their bed sheets once a month. That mean your bed linen is exposed to a month long of sweat, drool and dust. Having pets sharing the bed only makes the germ build up worse.

To avoid germs in your bed, launder your sheets once a week. This will not only keep them germ free but will also eliminate any unwanted dust mites.

4. Kitchen towels
Kitchen towels were rated high for dangerous strains of E. coli and other bacteria. One does not wash this towel every time one clean a stain. As you continue to use it, the germ build up increases, thereby making it extremely infected.

To avoid this, opt for throw away napkins to wipe stains instead.

5. Remote control
This may not seem like it could be directly exposed to germs, right? But the remote control is one of the most germ infested items in your house. It goes through many hands, it is pushed around in corners, coughed on and dropped on the floor. And how often is it cleaned? The germs present on the remote control can cause infections.

To avoid this, regularly wipe your remote control with bleach or alcohol wipes.
