5 things we learned from #NigeriaImmigration2000 protest in Abuja

On Friday, 2,000 Nigerians who were disengaged after completing the Nigeria Immigration Service training in 2015 protested and camped in front of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa till Saturday.

The aggrieved protesters were mobilized by Bring Back Our Girls conveners, Aisha Yesufu and Oby Ezekwesili, who tweeted as events unfolded.

Here are 5 things we learnt about their demands;

  1. They are requesting to be reinstated into the Nigeria Immigration Service

2. They agree to be re-screened but as officers and not applicants

3. Men of the Nigerian Police were with the protesters all through the night

4. They had been assigned service numbers and posting orders before being disengaged

5. They were completely ignored and had to camp at the Villa gate
