The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old man, Joseph Sunday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Ilaro, Yewa North Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect allegedly dragged the victim to an uncompleted building and raped her while she was on her way to fetch water.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was arrested after the victim’s mother laid a complaint.
“The policemen at the station where the case was reported immediately arrested the man. On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime,” he said.
The case has been transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation on the instruction of the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu.
