5th time lucky? Leonardo DiCaprio gets another shot at the Oscars

Since the nominations for the 88th Academy Awards were released, one major talking point has been if four-time Oscar nominee, Leonardo DiCaprio would finally claim one this year.

Leonardo DiCaprio is definitely one of the most respected actors in Hollywood.

He has landed leading roles in back to back movie hits such as What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993) , Titanic (1997),  Blood Diamond (2006), The Great Gatsby (2013),  The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) and so on.

However the American actor who started acting professionally 27 years ago has never won the most prestigious award in film.

In 1994, DiCaprio was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, and for Best Actor in 2005, 2007, and 2014 for The Aviator, Blood Diamond, and The Wolf of Wall Street, respectively but unfortunately he’s never won.

This year, the star has been nominated for his performance in American biographical western film –The Revenant where he played the film’s protagonist, Hugh Glass, an American hunter who was left for dead by his fellow hunters.

Although, he has been touted as a favourite to win because of how well he executed the challenging role, but it was much of the same situation in 2014 when he was shunned by the Academy after his brilliant performance in The Wolf of Wall Street.

Fans would be hoping the actor claims this one. It could be a fifth time lucky for him or it could just escape from him again.
