6 suspects arrested over kidnap of Emefiele’s wife

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested six persons suspected to be part of the group that orchestrated the kidnap of the wife of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele.

Margaret Emefiele was kidnapped on Thursday along Benin-Agbor road but was later released on Saturday after a crackdown on the kidnappers by security agencies.

According to The Punch, the arrested suspects were picked up at the hideout in Benin city, the Edo state capital.

They were apprehended by the operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Special Monitoring and Intelligence Team, led by CSP Abba Kyari.

However, it is not confirmed if any ransom was paid to effect the release of Mrs Emefiele.
