There’s been a lot of drama on the political scene in Nigeria. From the President’s aides being declared incompetent by the Senate to the President himself telling us he had considered absconding upon entering office. Don’t forget the President’s dismissive comments to “anybody that wants to leave” and all the promises of war by the militants.
Don’t be surprised if you find one too many Buhari-quotes below. He’s been saying quite a lot. Read our top ten quotes from the past week below:
1. “We are determined to make life comfortable and affordable to all Nigerians. If anybody has a country to go to, let him go, we will stay here and salvage our country.”- The President blessed us the week with another explosive quote when he said this to the Niger -Delta leaders he met with on Tuesday.
2. “IPOB welcomes Muhammadu Buhari’s declaration on the impending disintegration of Nigeria, but says no to conditions.”- The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in a quick response to President Buhari’s words.
3. “We shall bring Nigeria’s daily output quota to below 500,000 barrels. Just be ready for the approaching tsunami.” – The IPOB was not the only group that had a response for the President. Aldo Agbalaja said this in his statement released on behalf of the Militant group the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate. The statement had scathing words for the President in response to the remarks he made during his meeting with the Niger Delta leaders earlier. He ended by challenging the President to bring on a war if that’s what he wants.
4. “Whatever the scale of the problem the important thing is how one tackles it.” – President Buhari delivering some inspiration to Nigerians in a speech about how the recession was not caused by his administration.
5. “This is the reality, unfortunately. We have to rethink position given to certain persons and people who are not competent should step aside. What is the Chief of Staff doing? What is the SGF doing?” – Senate spokesperson, Aliyu Abdullahi lamenting the incompetence of official in the Presidency over the incomplete loan approval sent to the Senate last week.
6. “I will pray, fast to God that Buhari agrees to contest in 2019. If he contests, Nigeria will be better for it.” – John Oyegun, the APC National Chairman expressed his desire to see President Buhari re-elected to office in 2019. LOL.
7. “No one said it would be easy for us but we will never be stopped.” – One more in Trump news as the U.S elections draw nearer. Trump said this while thanking the U.S security forces for whisking him away after a man allegedly raised a gun at a Trump rally in Reno, Nevada.
8. “Power is never served as a buffet. To attain power, you must struggle for it. The youths of this country will not get power on a platter of gold.” – Senator Dino Melaye has some advice for the Nigerian youth.
9. “Actually, I felt like absconding because 27 out of 36 states in Nigeria cannot pay salaries and we know they have no other source than to depend on salaries to pay rent and do other things.- President Buhari once again got us talking after he said this on Thursday at the State House while meeting participants of the Senior Executive Course 37 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
10. “Dear Pastor, please show me where in the Bible God spoke of school fees, let alone ordained or ‘approved’ the price. Dear Nigerian sheep, follow the shepherd, not the butcher. FRZ” – Daddy Freeze is back with the comments. This time he came all out for Winners’ Pastor Oyedepo after comments the latter made about God ordaining fees paid by his students.
