Nigerian screen diva and Nollywood ace, Omotola Jolade-Ekeinde has been named the Favorite West African Actress of the Year. She was so crowned last Sunday, October 15 2011 at the year’s annual Screen Nation Film and Television Awards held at the Indigo O2 Arena in the UK.

In winning this year’s award, Omotola beats other nominees including Ghanaian Jackie Appiah; compatriots, Mercy Johnson and Genevieve Nnaji; British television presenter and actress Ama K Abebrese; and others.

According to Big Sam Media, Omotola’s PR company, the Nollywood actress recently “completed a tour of four countries on a project she is still keeping under wraps”.

The Screen Nation film and TV Awards is a televised event, which takes place in October every year during Black History Month and combines the glamour of international movie stars alongside British talent. The awards ceremony – dubbed by the media as the “Black BAFTAs’’ – brings together actors, actresses, directors and filmmakers from the UK and international film and TV industry. The 2011 installment was hosted by British television presenters, Angelica Bell and Michael Underwood.
