Akinfenwa, Nigerian footballer, is the strongest of them all

AFC Wimbledon striker Adebayo Akinfenwa has been officially announced as FIFA 15’s strongest player, EA Sports have confirmed.

Akinfenwa was so annoyed by reports that he’d lost his ranking ahead of the launch of the latest version of the game that he contacted EA Sports to clarify the situation.

Speaking to Standard Sport last month, the Wimbledon forward insisted that, should he lose his title, he would challenge his rival to bench-press battle. At 5ft 10in, he weighs more than 16 stone and can bench‑press 180kg, close to double his body weight.

“I like the tag of being the strongest player in football so I put a little message in to see if I was still going to be the strongest when the new game comes out,” he said. “They told me the chances of me still being the strongest are very good.

“But if I am not the strongest, I will call out whoever is the strongest out for a bench-press challenge!”

In the list released by EA Sports, Akinfenwa comes in ahead of the likes of Oldham Athletic’s George Elokobi, former QPR defender Chris Samba and Swansea City powerhouse Wilfried Bony.
