Akpabio has an important message for sit-tight African leaders

Over time, Africa has been unfortunate to have leaders who hold on to power at ll costs and prefer to die in power rather than relinquish their grip on it.

President Goodluck Jonathan chose not to join this unenviable group of leaders by conceding defeat to Muhammadu Buhari, once he lost the presidential election.

According to Akwa Ibom state governor, Godswill Akpabio, this is a commendable feat that must be emulated by all African leaders.

While speaking in Uyo on Friday during stakeholders’ sensitisation workshop of Second Peer Review of Nigeria for South-South region, Akpabio urged African leaders to proffer solutions to problems affecting the continent, stressing that Africa’s problems are unique and can only be solved by Africans.

“The world must know that President Goodluck Jonathan exhibited the spirit of a true sportsman different from the known attitude of African leaders, who always hold unto power even at the detriment of citizens.”

“Africa must come to terms that the problem with Africa is unique with Africa and can only be solved by Africans. Therefore we must rise to the demands of proffering solutions to our problems and foster the development of our continent.
