Akpabio says ‘Godswill’ would be done in Akwa Ibom in 2019

Former governor of Akwa Ibom State, now senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio, has stated that his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), will still govern the oil rich state in 2019.

Akpabio stated this at a recent rally organised by the people of Ikot Ekpene senatorial district to honor him and his sucessor, Governor Udom Emmanuel.

He said: “When I came to you in 2006, I told you Godswill should be done and you the people of Akwa Ibom agreed with me and Godswill was done. In 2011, I said Godswill should be done again, you agreed with me and it was done. In 2015 I pleaded with you to allow Godswill to be done again and again, you all made it happen. I will come back to you in 2019 and demand that Godswill should be done again, and again and again and I know it will happen.”

Akpabio applauded the Supreme Court for being fair, just and transparent, saying that the apex court showed courage in her push for the independence of the judiciary.

While commending President Buhari for allowing the judiciary independence, he however, berated the All Progressive Congress for demanding judgement instead of justice, which is the right of every Nigerian citizen, from the Supreme Court.

The former governor stated that: “I also acknowledge the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Gen. Buhari, for not meddling with or interfering in the Supreme Court judgment which has been the most transparent in recent times.”

He noted that the days of political thuggery in the state was over. He urged the people to support the state government to make sure that the state continued to witness transformation.
