Alison-Madueke debunks rumours of ill-health

Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, yesterday, debunked rumours indicating that she’s receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment in a London hospital.

An online news medium ran a story claiming the minister was admitted in a medical facility using her children’s return to school abroad as the excuse for her absence.

It said, “The minister’s diagnosis was for a condition related to abnormal cell development in her body. The doctor declined to disclose if the diagnoses was a form of cancer, but said Mrs. Alison-Madueke’s condition ‘assumed a dire dimension recently.”

Alison-Madueke responded on her Facebook page saying, “On the contrary to recently published articles concerning my health, I haven’t been hospitalised in London. Both my family and I are well.”

This speculation is similar to that concerning the wife of the president, Patience Jonathan, who was recently rumoured to have been rushed out of the country for medical attention.

The first lady’s health condition is yet to be ascertained and the presidency has shown reluctance in confirming her whereabouts or her date of return to Nigeria.
