There are reports that the newly appointed Defence Minister, Mohammed Gusau has put in his resignation.

Reports say Gusau, who is known in defence circles as an experienced soldier tendered his resignation yesterday after having a meeting with military top brass but these reports are yet to be confirmed through official quarters.

President Goodluck Jonathan recently swore in Gusau with prominent Lagos politician, Musiliu Obanikoro as the Minister of State for Defence.

Reports coming in however indicate that Gusau has denied putting in his resignation. Leadership reports say the Minister of Defence has stated categorically that rumours circulating online about his resignation are unfounded.
