We’re almost there – PDP Trustees endorse Jonathan as presidential candidate

The Board of Trustees of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) on Wednesday night endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2015 Presidential elections.

The BoT meeting held a night before the enlarged meeting of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) which is slated to hold on Thursday.

Prof Jerry Gana told journalists after the meeting that the party’s BoT had adopted President. Jonathan as the sole candidate for the party, considering his performance in office.

Governor’s Forum endorse GEJ

The party’s Governors Forum (PDP-GF) also endorsed the president as it’s sole candidate for the 2015 presidential election.

This was revealed by the Forum’s Chairman, and Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday evening at the Akwa Ibom State Government Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja. He said the resolution was carried out by 19 governors and deputies who attended a meeting of the forum on Wednesday evening at the Akwa Ibom State Government Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.

The President, was elected into office in 2011, after late President Musa Yar’Adua to whom he was Vice President to, passed on.

The forum urged all PDP faithful across the country to support this “vision and gesture, which we believe will enable the president to become the sole presidential candidate of our great party in 2015.”

Although Jonathan is yet to officially declare his ambition to run for a second term, thousands of supporters have been campaigning all over the country.

More than 7,000 groups across the country are said to be calling on him to run for the 2015 general election.
