Amokachi blames Keshi for Nigeria’s defeat to Uganda

by Mark Bassey

Amokachi 2Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Amokachi, has tried to distance himself from the limp display in the 1-0 loss to Uganda on Wednesday night.

The former Nigeria international claims Stephen Keshi picked the team and not him.

Odion Ighalo, Moses Simon and Akeem Latifu all made their debuts, as the former African champions were beaten at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo.

Amokachi has been in charge of the national team, as Keshi’s contract saga rumbles on, but after the disastrous performance he told angry officials that he should not be held accountable.

“He said he did not pick the team, that it was Keshi who did so. It was his own way of defending himself,” a top NFF official told African Football.

Keshi’s new two-year deal has been approved and all that is left is for the Big Boss to sign. But Amokachi is expected to be in charge, when the Eagles play South Africa in another friendly match on Sunday.
