President Obama enjoyed some boys only vacation time over the weekend, which included a bit of Sunday golfing with Tiger Woods.
On Friday President Obama was in Chicago discussing gun violence, but only hours later he was in a plush Florida resort area, preparing to relax a bit during his Presidents’ Day weekend.
Even though President Obama has reportedly been enjoying his time away from the cameras, White House reporters are peeved that they weren’t allowed access to Obama’s round of golf with Tiger Woods. The White House Correspondents’ Association expressed “extreme frustration” with their lack of access to Obama this weekend.
The president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, Ed Henry, issued a statement Sunday evening, saying, “I can say a broad cross section of our members from print, radio, online and TV have today expressed extreme frustration to me about having absolutely no access to the President of the United States this entire weekend. There is a very simple but important principle we will continue to fight for today and in the days ahead: transparency.”
Essentially, reporters are upset that there’s no transparency as it relates to the president’s schedule this weekend, and that they weren’t allowed even one photo-op of President Obama with Woods.
Reporters first learned that Woods would be golfing with the president not from the White House press office, but from Golf Digest writer Tim Rosaforte, who tweeted that Tiger Woods was in the club’s golf shop.
