APC governors to meet Buhari on Tuesday… with a long list of demands

by Kolapo Olapoju

All Progressives Congress’ governors and governors-elect will meet with the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, in Abuja on Tuesday, May 5.

It would be the first time Buhari will hold a joint meeting with the governors since the March 28 presidential election.

One of the governors who will be in attendance, spoke on the condition of anonymity with Punch Newspapers, in Abuja on Sunday, May 3.

The governor was quoted to have said: “The APC governors, serving and incoming, are to meet GMB (Buhari) on Tuesday morning in Abuja to pay a courtesy call on him, formally congratulate him on his electoral victory and make input into the policy direction of the administration ahead of the May 29 inauguration of the new government.”

“Ahead of the Tuesday meeting, the governors would hold a meeting on Monday evening in Abuja where we would firm up our presentation to the President-elect.”

During the meeting, the governors are expected to demand that they be allowed to nominate those to be appointed ministers in their states as well as to make their position known regarding which zone to be supported for the office of the Senate President.

The governors are also said to be of the opinion that they should be allowed to produce the next Senate President, owing to their support of Buhari’s candidacy and their contribution to the merger that led to the formation of the APC.

  1. This is the problem of Nigeria. See these clowns, they have been elected as governors and now they want to nominate who should be ministers from their states. Thats why Nigeria is messed up.

The governors elect are supposed to first of all fulfill the purpose of their election. Serve the people, serve the state. Instead of doing what they were elected for they want to “nominate” ministers. Is appointment of commissioners not enough? Instead of leading downwards they want to lead upwards. Greed!

If Buhari allows this happen it will be barely 14 months, his administration will be flooded with corruption and incompetence, and he will become a joke, a much bigger joke than Jonathan. To whom much is given, much is expected
