APC leaders- Buhari, Tinubu, Saraki, Osinbajo, Dogara, others to meet today

Up until now, several efforts to resolve the leadership crisis in the National Assembly has ended in futility.

The intervention of some party leaders and most recently, President Buhari, has not been able to douse the tension within the All Progressives Congress’ lawmakers.

The National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress is scheduled to meet today, Friday, July 3, and it is expected to be a tension-soaked session, with the various factions of the party having failed to arrive at a compromise before now.

Political watchers and analysts believe that the outcome of the meeting of today would either resolve the crisis within the ruling party or further strain its frail unity.

The party’s NEC is made up of President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo; the Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; the party’s national leader, Ahmed Tinubu; the party’s 22 state governors and other leaders of the party.

Ahead of the meeting, two party leaders, National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun; and a former Vice-President of the country, Atiku Abubakar, have pleaded with party members to embrace peace in order to come up with a solution to end the crisis.

Meanwhile, a combined team of security operatives, drawn from the Department of State Services and the police, have been deployed to APC national headquarters, at Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja.
