Arik Air ditches passengers for ‘Dangote staff’ in Benin airport (PHOTOS)

A protest broke out on Sunday, at a Benin airport after passengers who were scheduled for two Arik Air flights from Benin to Lagos, were said to have found out that their flight had been chattered by members of staff of Dangote Cement.

The passengers who were billed to board their flights at 16:30 to Abuja and 17:00 to Lagos were stunned when they were informed that there was no fuel in the airplanes.

Not long after they were checked in at about 18:00, after waiting for over 2 hours, word spread that 2 airplanes had been chattered by staff of Dangote Cement.

The staff of Dangote Cement were allegedly returning from a ground breaking ceremony, says a source at the Benin airport.

The new information apparently irked the frustrated passengers as they vented their anger in a full fledged protest as they were made to believe that the airplanes were meant to take them.

As at the time of reporting, all Arik staff at the airport have reportedly checked out.
