The Nigerian Army on Thursday intercepted a female suicide bomber in Borno.

According to Premium Times, the incident which occurred at about 10:30 a.m. at Rann, in Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno State, was thwarted by soldiers attached to “Operation Lafiya Dole”.

According to reports, the suspect was a girl who had been kidnapped before by Boko Haram.

According to sources the girl was strapped with a suicide vest by the insurgents, but was stopped by a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force who “dived and held” her, preventing her from detonating the explosives.

The girl later told troops after the vest was removed from her that she was kidnapped by insurgents on her way to Gamboru town by Boko Haram.
