Soldiers of the 19 Battalion of Nigerian Army have caught a middle-aged man suspected to be a Boko Haram terrorist in Sapele, Delta state.
The man, named Bukar Abacha was apprehended not long after he arrived at the Hausa quarters in Sapele.
According to a senior officer in the Army, on Thursday, January 28, the suspect was arrested after a tip from a member of the Arewa community was given to “Operation Pulo Shield”.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to the Army Headquarters in Abuja for further interrogation.
The senior officer also revealed that the suspect was on the wanted list of the Army while stating that a sensitization exercise tagged “show of force confidence building patrol” had been inaugurated.
“The exercise is aimed at disarming all acts of criminalities such as, kidnapping, pipeline vandalism, illegal oil bunkering and killing of innocent citizens in the area.
“Before the arrest, community leaders informed us that the suspect was looking strange, psychologically imbalance and uncomfortable in their midst that called for his doubt as one of them,” he said.
He further urged people to give the army any intelligence information that would assist to effectively eradicate violence from the society.
