There are indications that the leader of the Niger Delta Volunteer Force, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, who was arrested by the police in Benin Republic, has been released.
Asari-Dokubo was said to have been let go after President Goodluck Jonathan reportedly intervened in the impasse which saw the militant leader spending about 36 hours in Beninoise jail.
According to SaharaReporters, his release was effected around 1am today and was confirmed by his lawyer, Festus Keyamo.
Unconfirmed reports, however say the controversial militant leader has been flown to Abuja following his release.
