3 contenders for Attorney General and Minister of Justice

One of the most sensitive and important positions in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, is that of Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

Traditionally, the same person holds the two positions.

The Attorney General is the chief law officer and the main legal advisor to the federal government, who is saddled with the responsibility of law enforcement and prosecutions.

While President Buhari has assured Nigerians that he would release his ministerial list before the end of September, speculations have been rife regarding the identities of the possible candidates.

For the position of Attorney General, 3 names have been repeatedly mentioned.

The frontline contenders for the post include;

1. Human rights activist and lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) from Ekiti State

2.  Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), who is from Ondo State.

3. Former Legal Adviser of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change, Abubakar Malami (SAN) from Kebbi State.
