Aw or Yikes? Meet cross-eyed cat, Spangles who has 5,000 Facebook followers (PHOTOS)

He’s used to getting a few funny looks – but this cross-eyed cat has now become famous for his cute stare.

The puss has become an internet sensation after his owner made him a Facebook page.

Spangles, whose eyes both look inwards, is a three-year-old tabby who was born on July 4 – hence the name.

And with his eye for fashion, it is no wonder people have been poring over the photos of him in fancy dress.

His owner, Mary Buchanan, a college student from Spartanburg, South Carolina, enjoys dressing him up in cute outfits and says he ‘loves having his picture taken.’

His proud owner posted a picture of him in swashbuckling costume (but without an eye-patch) online and now 5,000 followers eagerly await daily pictures.

Spangles can so far be seen dressed in quirky costumes including a frog, tiger and unicorn.

Spangles, who is boss-eyed from a birth defect, is not in any pain and can see well out of both his eyes.

‘The vet says he doesn’t need any surgery,’ said Mary, 25.

‘He’s never run into things, wobbled, or anything like that,’ added Mary, a photographer.

‘Spangles is a very sweet kitty, a real mama’s boy.

‘He loves to snuggle and lay in bed with me.’

Mary says she is surprised by the thousands of ‘likes’ Spangles has received on the social networking site.

‘I have been inundated with questions,’ she said.

‘People just love him and I think it’s very unusual to see a cross eyed cat.’
