Police have released CCTV in a bid to identify the hit-and-run driver who  ploughed into the mother and child in a convenience store car park.

A toddler had a miracle escape after a driver reversed into his buggy and  drove off, dragging him beneath the van.

Shocking CCTV shows the moment the minivan ploughed into the youngster and  his mother as they walked across a convenience store parking lot in  Michigan.

The footage has been released by police in a bid to identify the hit-and-run  driver.

Mum Arieanna Currier, 18, told police she had been grocery shopping with her  sister and 18-month-old son Elijah at Sam’s Drink All, in Muskegon, on June  25.

 

A surveillance camera shows the women walking across the car park with the  pushchair as a man leaves the store and gets into a van.

The driver then reverses, hitting the mother and child, before driving off  with the boy still under the vehicle.

“When I was getting up, I saw my son being dragged with the stroller on the  bumper,” Arieanna told WZZM News.

As the driver paused, the young mum raced across the car park and desperately  tried to unstrap little Elijah from his buggy before the van sped off again.

Police later told Arieanna that the vehicle has been stolen and the identity  of the driver is still unknown.

Detectives have now released images in a bid to trace the man.

Arieanna added: “I still feel scared and at the same time I’m thinking to  myself, I’m lucky that me and my son are still here.”
