Dear Minister Fashola, President Buhari says Nigeria’s ‘roads are dead’

The new Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola undoubtedly has his work cut out for him, although precedence has shown that he’s a worker.

The gravity of what’s expected of Fashola in the Works sector, was glimpsed on Wednesday, at the interactive dinner organised for Senators by the Presidency.

During the dinner, President Muhammadu Buhari said the nation’s roads are in a terrible state, stressing that urgent reconstruction is necessary.

The President said: “The roads are dead. Those who drive between Lagos and Ibadan will have a lot of stories to tell you.”

“Those who drive from Kaduna to Jebba may have more stories to tell. The same thing is applicable to the East West Road,” Buhari added.

Furthermore, the President urged the Senate to assist his government in concentrating on the problem of infrastructure such as rail, road and power.

Buhari opined that if Nigeria’s railway network was functioning, lives would be saved, and fuel as well.
