On Monday, blogville and every popular social media on this side of the divide were awash with the news of Ice Prince Zamani’s new love child. The gist has it that the baby mama is a certain Bimbo Babatunde. The 20-year-old is a former student of Houdegbe North American University and is believed to have dated Ice Prince’s label mate, Jesse Jagz as well.

Although both mother and alleged father have denied their relationship, it hasn’t stopped the issue from becoming a hot topic. People on Linda Ikeji’s blog and thenetng.com, for instance, were quick to compare him with the legendary 2face Idibia, who has fathered about six children from three different women.

Like some folks quite rightly pointed out, more and more young people are having sex without condoms or any form of protection/contraceptives. The result is that a lot of young men are becoming fathers, not by choice but by accident. It is usually worse for the ladies, because in most scenarios, they were good enough to be flings or one-night stands but not good enough to be married as a wife.

Either ways, it is one of the worse things that can happen to anyone, especially the guy. The dangers for a celebrity like Ice Prince, apart from the scandals and bad press, is the possibility of their careers nose-diving as a result.

For a layman, accidental fatherhood brings responsibility you did not plan for. It slows down your progress in life and hinders personal development, because the truth of the matter is that, you never planned for it. But yet, you just have to find a way to deal with it.

For both set of individuals, it could be a trap. It could be a marriage trap, where the young woman gets pregnant intentionally and ropes you into tying the knots with her. It is not usually the case, but some desperate ladies do this and draws the man into a marriage he  will ultimately regret.

The recent happenings both home and abroad is a timely warning to every young person. More than ever, it is important we are extra careful in our sexual relationships, so that you do not end up an accidental father through carelessness, ignorance or sin.
