PDP governor appoints APC members into his cabinet

Despite the violence that characterised the Bayelsa state governorship election in January 2016, the state governor, Seriake Dickson, has appointed into his cabinet, two members of the opposition party, the All Progressives Congress.

It would be recalled that the incumbent governor, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, had contested in a tough election that pitched him against a former governor of the state, Timipre Sylva.

Sylva, who lost the election, had contested the election on the platform of the APC.

The members of the opposition party appointed by Seriake are: Ben Iyororokumo who was appointed as special adviser on inter party relations, while Clever Lawrence was appointed as the special adviser on information, communication and technology development

The governor, who had dissolved his cabinet after winning a hard fought election in January, charged the new appointees to do their best in helping him restore the mandate given to him by the people of Bayelsa state.

He stated that he chose members of the opposition party to serve in his government so he can fulfill his campaign promise of having an inclusive government.
