Bayern Munich send off Pep Guardiola with German Cup triumph

Bayern Munich have won the 2016 edition of the DFB-Pokal tonight on penalties in a final against arch-rivals, Borrusia Dortmund.

With Pep Guardiola heading to the Manchester City dug-out next season, Bayern sought to send off their coach with a victory in the German Cup final adding to their Bundesliga trophy win.

A goal-less 90 minutes plus extra time saw both teams forced to decide the game on penalties- for the first time since 1999.

Bayern Munich then went on to beat Borussia Dortmund 4-3 on penalties.

Bayern’s Douglas Costa scored the all important penalty to send off the Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola with amazing credentials to Manchester City.

Mats Hummels, who is switching Dortmund for Bayern in the summer, left the game with 13 minutes of normal time to play as a result of cramp.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang blew Dortmund’s best chance of the game after he got at the end of Marco Reus cross before he fired his shot over the crossbar.
