Former Minister of Education and Co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Campaign, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili has said the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris owe an apology to the group as well as Nigerians for disrupting the BBOG march to the Aso Villa on Tuesday.
The group was protesting the inability of the Federal Government to ensure the release of the abducted Chibok girls by terrorist group Boko Haram when they were stopped by men of the Nigeria Police Force.
Idris had said on Friday that the constitution allows for peaceful protests in a democratic setting.
In a tweet on her handle, Ezekwesili said, “NO BAN ON PUBLIC PROTEST says IG @PoliceNG || The IG has finally read a copy of 1999 Constitution & his #BBOG File.
“IG of @PoliceNG owes A BIG APOLOGY to us @BBOG_Nigeria &the public whose movement it FLAGRANTLY disrupted last Tuesday. He’ll HEAR FROM US.”
