Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to empower the country’s media.
The Senator representing Bayelsa East constituency, says the President should inculcate the habit of passing across important messages/announcements/information through the local media platforms.
Murray-Bruce tweeted thus on Christmas eve.
I urge President @MBuhari to build up our local media by speaking through them when he has important things to say. pic.twitter.com/nBdwktV86q

Murray-Bruce’s comment is in reaction to President Buhari’s recent revelation to BBC that the Nigerian Army has won the war against Boko Haram.
President Buhari has often been accused of making sensitive and key statements while outside the shores of the country.
Quite a number of Nigerians have publicly echoed these sentiments.
One of such persons is Chidi Odinkalu, Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission.
In September, Odinkalu described as ‘offensive’ to Nigerians, the situation where Buhari’s plans for the country, are usually first-heard during his visits to foreign countries.
