Beyonce, SNUBBED: Princess Eugenie declines to sing duet with Mrs. Carter

We are incredibly excited to report an event that cross-pollinates VF.com’s ongoing Beyoncé world-domination coverage and our dedicated royal-watching! Beyoncé, unofficially known as ‘Queen B,’ and Princess Eugenie, officially sixth in line for the British throne, crossed paths at the singer’s London concert on Monday when Beyoncé invited Eugenie to sing into her microphone during the catchy “To the left” chorus of “Irreplaceable.” Eugenie—who seemed tongue-tied at the notion of pop royalty asking her to sing—awkwardly declined.

The real question is: did Beyoncé know she was approaching royalty? As someone who recently Googled “official British Monarchy etiquette,” your blogger would like to point out that the singer did not curtsy as she approached Princess Eugenie, indicating either disrespect for the Queen’s family, or that Beyoncé had no idea who Eugenie was. Perhaps the only upside to the incident was the fact that Beyoncé was wearing her long-sleeved blue sequined jumpsuit (as seen in the video below) and not the anotomically-correct bejeweled costume with nipple detail that may or may not have caused Obama to distance himself from the pop star. We would also like to express relief that Beyoncé wasn’t singing one of her latest singles, “Bow Down Bitches.”
