Biafra protesters hold ‘5,000 man march’ against Buhari

Over 5,000 members of the Indigenous People of Biafra came out in Aba, Abia state on Tuesday, May 10 to protest President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement that Biafra agitationwill be crushed.

Agitation has been on for the secession of the Republic of Biafra from the Nigerian state since 2015- which led to the arrest of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu by the DSS and subsequently his trial for treason at a Federal High Court in Abuja.

President Buhari had declared that the corporate existence of Nigeria as one is non-negotiable.

But the protesters are not having this.

“We are protesting against President Buhari’s statement that he will crush Biafra,” the protesters said in a statement. “We want to assure him that nobody can crush Biafra, not even a thousand Buharis. It will surprise him that Biafra will be actualized during his reign as Nigeria’s President. Buhari supports Western Sahara and Palestine to be granted sovereignty while he continues to suppress Biafra.”

The protest was peaceful, at least.
