A man has begged the Agege Customary Court in Lagos to end his marriage claiming his mother-in-law had turned his wife against him.

Luqman Agoro told the court that his wife was stubborn and denied him access to his child.

“She does not listen to me; she does anything her mother wants her to do. She does not mind if it’s bad or good and she keeps to herself,” he said.

According to reports, Agoro narrated to the court an incidence when his mother-in-law asked his wife, Sadiat to get his finger nails and they had both kept it a secret from him until he was eventually confronted by his mother-in-law.

He also said his wife no longer lived with him because he requested that she stopped attending the same church her mother did.

Sadiat, a 27-years-old sales girl, rejected some of the accusations, she said she did not leave her matrimonial home but was kicked out for allegedly giving birth to a baby girl.

“He had warned me earlier that if I give birth to a baby girl I would not live under the same roof with him and that he would not be responsible for the child upbringing,” she said.

The court president, Emmanuel Shokunle, dissolved the marriage and granted custody of the child to the mother, asking the father to be responsible for the upkeep of the child.
