‘Boko Haram can no longer hold any territory in Nigeria’ – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday, stated that terrorist group, Boko Haram, has been largely degraded hence it is impossible for the group to hold any territory within Nigeria.

The President stated this at the 13th summit of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) in Istanbul, Turkey.

Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said that all the territories previously held by the sect has been taken back by government forces and their camps destroyed.

While noting that a vast majority of the terror group’s leadership had either surrendered or have been arrested, the President thanked neighboring countries (Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Benin) for their help in the fight against terror.

“A multiplicity of crises and conflicts litter the entire landscape of the Muslim World – from West and North Africa through Central Asia to the Indian subcontinent; from Jammu and Kashmir to Jakarta.”

“And from the Arabian Peninsula and the Near East to the Balkans; many member-states are embroiled in conflicts threatening their very existence and taking an unacceptable toll in human lives and destruction of critical infrastructure.”

“Muslim minorities in non-member-states like Myammar, Philippines, Thailand and China; and Muslim migrants in the West are still facing serious political, cultural and economic challenges or outright persecution.”

He further urged the OIC to work towards ensuring peace and justice for Palestinians.
