Boko Haram: Dasuki begs Emirs for help

by Isi Esene

Keen on his unique approach to fighting terrorism, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, took his message of dialogue to other flashpoints in the North. His host yesterday was the Emir of Daura, Katsina State, where he literally begged the Emir and other influential leaders to assist the government in reaching out to Boko Haram contacts for dialogue.

Dasuki who recently revealed he has the phone numbers of Boko Haram leaders held talks with stakeholders in Katsina on Wednesday before arriving in Kano yesterday. While in Kano, he met commandants of Army, Prison, Immigration, Civil Defense, the state police commissioner and major traditional rulers.

According to The Nation, the NSA restated the FG’s preparedness to work with the states and other stakeholders to surmount the problem of insecurity in some parts of the country. He urged them to reach out to all known contacts of the Boko Haram Islamist sect and make them embrace the latest dialogue initiative.

“Let us all come together to ensure dialogue between the sect and the government. We need it to restore peace to trouble spots,” Dasuki urged.

Just one question: Has he called the Boko Haram leaders yet?
