There was pandemonium in Ido-Osun, Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun state on Saturday over an alleged discovery of an explosive device in the area.

Residents of Ibikunle estate, Ido-Osun had allegedly reported the purported discovery of an explosive device around the state secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) to the Police in the early hours of yesterday.

A resident of the area, who spoke to journalists, said most of the residents of the area vacated their houses as soon as the news spread.

Officers of the state Police command also arrived the area using bomb detectors and other devices to ascertain where the explosive device may have been planted.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Folashade Odoro in her reaction said there was nothing as such in Osun saying: “It was a false alarm, there was nothing like discovery of an explosive device in any part of the state.”
