A six-year-old boy has been reported dead while doctors are now battling to save the lives of 15 others as a result of generator fume they inhaled during a vigil in Aba, Abia State.

According to reports, the victims were conducting an inter-denominational all night prayer Friday at the Young Peoples Christian Fellowship at No. 5 Eziukwu road, Aba when the tragic incident occurred.

They allegedly left the generating set on at the corridor after the programme and slept off only to be discovered unconscious the next day but before rescue could come their way, the little boy had died.

The tragedy was discovered when a relation to one of the victims called her but the phone rang out without any response.

Worried by the development, he decided to come to the warehouse – turned church, venue of the vigil only to see that all the worshipers were unconscious.

Area Commander, Aba, ACP Peter Wagbara, who confirmed the incident said the victims had been rushed to a hospital.
